Why should we think about paying
for our own funeral?

Many people wish to provide for their funeral expenses and a funeral prepayment plan is a caring, sensible and cost- effective way to do so.

The advantage of a prepayment plan over a savings account or life insurance policy is that you can pay now, at today’s price, and beat inflation – no matter when the service is required. The Funeral Director’s fees will be paid when the funeral has been provided.

Our funeral prepayment plans are provided by Golden Charter in association with a network of independent, family-owned Funeral Directors throughout the UK. Funeral prepayments are held in a trust and monitored by the Funeral Planning Authority.

The advantages of a Prepayment Plan

You can choose your own funeral arrangements, for your own peace of mind.

You will save your family from having to make difficult decisions and trying to guess what you would have wanted, at such a distressing time.

Avoid rising funeral costs with an inflation-proof guarantee of the Funeral Director’s fees. Financial security – the funeral payment is held in trust until it is needed.

The service will be provided by your local Funeral Director. There is no age limit and there are no awkward health questions.

You can make a once-only payment or pay by monthly instalments, whichever suit you.

All enquiries and arrangements are treated in confidence.

Complies with the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and the Funeral

Planning Authority Code of Practice.

Most of us, as we get older, expect to provide the money to meet our funeral expenses.

It’s to do with independence and responsibility: leaving everything in order for our relatives & friends.

Why a funeral plan is a smart financial decision:

The average cost of a funeral has

increased by 58% in just six years

Funeral costs in the UK are rising every year. While the average cost of a funeral in 2004 was £1,920,today it’s £4,078*. That’s an increase of 112% – well above inflation. At this rate, in another 10 years, the average cost of a funeral could be more than £7000. With funeral costs rising every year*, a Golden Charter Funeral Plan offers an easy way to pay for your Funeral Director’s service at a cost that’s fixed at current prices.
